Singer Soyu has sparked public outrage after revealing she experienced racial discrimination on a flight from the U.S. to South Korea. The incident has drawn further attention as it follows similar disclosures by singer-actor Hyeri and DJ Soda.
Soyu shared on her SNS on the 19th, “After finishing my New York schedule, I boarded a flight from Atlanta to South Korea via a connecting flight. In an extremely exhausted state, I requested a Korean flight attendant to confirm meal times, but the supervisor criticized my attitude, treated me like a problematic passenger, and suddenly called security.” She added, “I even had to say I would disembark if I was the problem, and endured cold stares and treatment for the rest of the flight. At that moment, I wondered, ‘Is this racial discrimination?’” Soyu further revealed, “I couldn’t eat anything during the over 15-hour flight, and the experience left deep scars stemming from racial prejudice.”
