ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY I DEDICATE THIS TO HIS MEMORY :
I recall , now , the man, concerned, those good times then and the words spoken
And I know just how much they meant , long before the spell could be broken
Don't ask what our planet can do for us
But what we can do for our planet
I regret the way things have turned , this whole mess to which we've awoken
Now I know there's anger to vent , and a world to mend or it's broken
Ask not what this old world can do for you
What can we do to build a new world
I resolve before we've adjourned , that these words be more than a token
For I know to us this world's leant , it's a promise not to be broken
Ask not how to plan it or make a fuss
We've got things to do on this planet
I redress the balance we spurned , Ho Chi Minh City, to Hoboken
Don't we know , like a circus tent , our world is a circle unbroken
Ask not when the circus will come to town
But when you can go join the circus
And not what our planet can do for us
But what we can do for our planet
And not what this old world can do for you
What can we do to build a new world
And let's not just plan it and make a fuss
We 've so much to do on this planet ...
